McHugh’s Edenmore is a proud, family-run business that has been serving the communities of Edenmore, Artane, Raheny, and Coolock with dedication and care since 1962. Over the decades, the McHugh family has built a strong reputation for quality, community support, and forward-thinking retail, remaining a trusted name at the heart of the area for generations.
Overview
When the McHughs family decided to build a brand-new, flagship Centra, the goal wasn’t just size; it was quality. They wanted Ireland’s biggest and best Centra, purpose-built to serve thousands of customers a day with smooth operations, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-of-the-line security built in from day one.
Usee.ie was chosen to design, supply, and install a complete solution, CCTV, alarms, and audio, all created from a blank drawing, tailored to meet the unique demands of this modern, high-traffic store.
The Design Challenge
From the start, efficiency and sustainability were key. The original security proposal called for 40 cameras, but our team was able to deliver full coverage with just 18 strategically placed devices.
By using a smart combination of Axis multi-lens and hemispherical cameras, each with higher pixel counts and wider coverage, we reduced the equipment footprint dramatically while simultaneously enhancing image quality.
This smaller camera count didn’t just simplify the system; it reduced the overall power draw, lowering long-term running costs and helping cut the store’s carbon footprint in line with its sustainability goals.
We also gave McHughs access to powerful business and security metrics, including:
Footfall counts for tracking customer traffic
Appearance search for quickly locating individuals in footage
Text search
Free redaction service (a feature that typically costs €3,000–€5,000 per month in other systems)

On Thursday, August 28th, founder Gerry McHugh himself cut the ribbon, marking a proud new chapter in a family business that’s been part of the community for generations.
